3 boosts mobile broadband data caps

November 4, 2016

Mobile network operator 3 has upgraded its mobile broadband service for small businesses to a monthly data cap of 15GB – the largest available in the UK.

The new package will set businesses back £30 per month on an 18 month contract.

A new 5GB business package is also being launched at £15 per month.

Both new data caps represent a significant jump from previous limits – which were 7GB on the larger package, and 3GB on the smaller.

In addition to the data cap boosts, businesses signing up for two contracts will get the second package half price.

A free USB dongle modem is included as standard, although users can pay a £10 upgrade for the E169 dongle.

According to 3, the E169 offers 30%-50% faster download speeds than standard dongles.

Renato Bottini, Head of 3’s recently set up business division, said the flexibility of being able to work on the go is ‘especially important’ for small businesses.

He added that 3’s new price package will allow many small business to make mobile working a reality.

Vying for business customers on mobile broadband is a new trend among telecoms operators.

Virgin Media recently announced that mobile broadband can be bundled with its cable packages for an extra £5 per month, whilst BT offers mobile broadband as a free add-on to its business broadband customers.
